How do I remove page numbers in Excel when printing?

Answer

Go to Page Layout → Page Setup → Header/Footer tab → select '(none)' for both header and footer.

Detailed explanation

Page numbers are added through headers and footers. To remove them:

Method 1 — Through Page Setup

  1. Page Layout tab
  2. Click the small arrow in the corner of the Page Setup group
  3. Header/Footer tab
  4. In the dropdowns, select (none) for both header and footer
  5. Click OK

Method 2 — Through Page Layout View

  1. Insert tab → Header & Footer
  2. Click in the header/footer area
  3. Delete the contents (page number, text)
  4. Click outside the header/footer

Check Before Printing

Press Ctrl+P and look at the preview — page numbers should be gone.

Per-Sheet Setting

Header/footer settings apply to each sheet individually. If your workbook has multiple sheets, repeat for each one.
